Privacy notice

What we do with your details.

Plain version: we only use your information to run the grant, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.

Who we are

The Alebiosu Foundation (“we”) runs this website and the grant programmes on it. For anything in this notice, contact us at [email protected] or +234 803 845 9141.

What we collect

When you apply for a grant, we collect what you type into the form. That includes:

  • your name, date of birth, gender, email, phone number and where you live;
  • details about your family roots in Omuo-Oke Ekiti, and a contact who knows your family;
  • your education, what you're doing now and roughly what you earn;
  • your plan for the grant and your referee's details;
  • any links you choose to share, such as a CV in Google Drive.

If you tell us you live with a disability, we treat that as sensitive. It's optional, it isn't used to score you, and it's only used to plan support.

We don't ask for your BVN, NIN, bank details or card details when you apply. We only ask for bank details if you win, and we do that by phone.

Why we collect it

  • To check that you meet the rules for the programme.
  • To score and shortlist applications fairly.
  • To verify your certificate and your roots in Omuo-Oke, if you are shortlisted.
  • To contact you about your application and tell you the outcome.
  • To pay and follow up with people who receive a grant.

Our legal basis

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, we rely on your consent, which you give when you tick the declaration on the application, and on our legitimate interest in running a fair grant programme. You can withdraw your consent at any time. If you do that before a decision is made, we'll stop considering your application.

Where it's kept and who sees it

Applications are stored in Google Forms and Google Sheets, under the foundation's Google account. Google may store that data on servers outside Nigeria. Access is limited to the people running the grant and the selection panel.

We only contact the family contact and referee you name if you are shortlisted. We don't sell your details, and we don't share them with anyone else unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep applications for two years after a round closes, so we can answer questions and spot repeat or false applications, and then we delete them. For grant recipients, we keep payment and progress records for as long as Nigerian law requires.

On your device

While you fill in an application, your answers are saved in your own browser so you don't lose them. They stay on your device and are cleared when you submit. This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you the information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that's wrong;
  • delete your information;
  • stop using it, or give you a copy of it.

Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
